Yup, goin' to see the fireworks at Lake Orono in about an hour.... lotsa fun, yessir. They shoot them from a little island/penninsula type thing in the middle of the lake. Last year they set some of the trees over there on fire, cuz it was so dry that summer. But it's a good show, better than the dinky little one we've got in Big Lake for the Spud Fest (yup, Spud Fest, a town festival celebrating the lowly potato. That was last week. They have mashed potato wrestling and everything....). Only problem is, you've got to get there really early to get a parking space ($4) and get a place to sit on the beach.
I can hear the neighbors already getting into the spirit with some fireworks of their own, which is all well and good, except that the stuff they're setting off is illegal. Not to mention the fact that it's still light out. I never really understood why anyone would set off fireworks before dark. There's just no point. Except for the whole "annoy the neighbors with loud noises" thing.
I've gotta get going. Happy 4th of July, everyone!
