I have not had a workout like that in forever...
So after Sci-Fi group got out, Grubbs and I were walking back to the dorms. We reached the Linden/Birch parking lot and ran into Davis, Ben, and Doug. Davis said they were going for a walk and asked if we wanted to go along. We agreed, ran into the building briefly to drop off our stuff, and then headed out.
First we just went down to Diamond Point and messed around there for a while. Various items were thrown into the lake. A good time was had by all.
We followed the path around the lake to somewhere behind Bangsburg (formerly, this said
"Bangsbridge"... wonder what I was thinking), where that one fireplace/chimney thing is. Then someone had the brilliant idea to follow the wooded path down by the lake all the way around to downtown. So we set off into the dark woods.
At first, this was quite easy. There's a nice little footpath and everything. But after a while, in the dark, there were two paths. No problem, we'd just pick one and follow it around the lakeshore. Well... we sorta picked the wrong one. We picked the lower one that is overgrown with young trees, old root structures, grass, and general brush. As we walked along it just got harder and harder... At one point we crossed a bunch of boulders, which nearly sent me tumbling down the side of the hill into the lake (lost my sense of balance, not good, but fortunately I didn't fall or anything).
Did I mention that I also have very poor night vision? I completely lose my depth perception. Anyway... I ended up on my knees a couple times, and on my ass once after tripping over a tree branch. But after a while we decided to take the upper path, which was much easier to follow. Of course, it ended in a stone wall, which required finding a place to climb over, which I did. We ended up about a quarter mile short of Paul and Babe, and then took the sidewalk back to campus. Lots of fun. But... wow am I tired now. And I've got two little scrapes, one on each knee, that sting, just a little. And I'm hungry. And very very happy.
