Something that's been rattling around in my brain for a while: the idea of time as currency. We talk of "spending" time with people or doing things. Is time a form of payment for something? Attention, maybe? Or love? Appreciation?
You can have it good, fast, and/or cheap; pick any two.
There's a line I wrote in one of my notebooks while I was supposed to be paying attention (there's that currency thing again) in class: I payed him with mornings. Can't figure out where I was going with that, but it felt profound at the time.
