When you wish upon a star

Tonight I saw a beautiful, bright fireball streaking through the sky to it's inevitable doom. It flared, many times bigger than any star in the midnight sky, then flickered and finally winked out of existence. Most likely it was a tiny piece of rock or similar space detritus burning up in our caustic atmosphere, but for a moment in time it transcended its base existence and became a thing of beauty.
